# Construction of Cyclone Shelters in West Bengal

Construction of 50 multi-purpose cyclone shelters was sanctioned in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Purba Medinipur districts of West Bengal at an approved outlay of Rs.138.65 crore from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Construction work of all 50 cyclone shelters have been completed and it have been handed over to the local authority/State Government of West Bengal.

# Construction of Cyclone Shelters in Kerala and Lakshadweep

Construction of 01 multi-purpose cyclone shelter each in Kerala and Lakshdweep was sanctioned from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Construction work of 01 cyclone shelter has been completed in Vadakara, Kerala at a cost of Rs. 2.24 crore and it has been handed over to the local authority.
Construction work of 01 cyclone shelter in Minicoy Island, Lakshadweep is under process. Cost approved for this Cyclone shelter is Rs. 3.37 crore. 

# Projects related to Floods in Jammu & Kashmir in 2014

  • Replacement of damaged text books: 1,18,500 sets of text books were distributed among the students of schools. In addition, 180 textbooks sets handed over to 5 Kendriya Vidyalayas and 3 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The project was implemented by the School Education Department, Government of J&K. Total cost of the project was Rs.4.08 crore.
  • Replacement of damaged medical equipments in six hospitals of Srinagar, Leh and Jammu: NDMA is the implementing agency. 217 items have been procured by NDMA through M/S HLL Lifecare Ltd. and 71 medical equipments directly by Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir in consultation with NDMA. Total cost of the project is Rs.142.15 crore.
  • Reconstruction of damages houses: Sanction rate of reconstruction of fully damaged pucca and kutcha houses was Rs.1 lakh and Rs.50,000/- each, respectively. Rate of reconstruction of severely damaged pucca houses and kutcha houses was Rs.50,000/- and Rs.10,000/- each, respectively. Rate of reconstruction of Partially damaged pucca houses and kutcha houses was 25,000/- and Rs.5,000/- each, respectively. Altogether, Rs.565 crore was released for reconstruction of 21,088 fully damaged Pucca & Kutch houses and 1,97,652 severely and partially damaged pucca and kutcha houses houses.
  • Procurement of blankets: 01 lakh blanket at a cost of Rs. 5 crore were procured and disbursed among the Flood affected people in J&K.
